    Born and raised in Virginia, Michael played baseball at Emory University ('05) before earning his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law ('08). That same year, he passed the Virginia Bar and joined Hollingsworth LLP, an internationally recognized litigation firm in Washington, D.C.

    At Hollingsworth, Michael worked a wide range of complex personal injury matters, including product liability, toxic torts, motor vehicle, and wrongful death cases. His personable nature and “jack-of-all-trades” ethos allowed him to quickly develop a versatile skill set in all phases of litigation, notably medical expert depositions, settlement negotiations, and a ranging motion practice (including multiple Daubert wins).

    In 2013, Michael stepped away from full-time law practice to conceive, launch, and grow a successful line of food establishments, with multiple locations that continue to operate today. This hands-on entrepreneurial experience gave him a deep understanding of what it takes to start, run, and scale a business (in the notoriously difficult restaurant industry) — insight he now uses to advise clients with both legal and business goals in mind.

    Returning to law in 2022, Michael joined Schroder Davis PLC, a top entertainment law firm based in Richmond, VA. There, he refined his expertise in negotiating and drafting contracts for individual and corporate clients across various creative industries and commercial ventures. Michael recently jumped back into the world of complex litigation, negotiating a significant financial settlement for a client stemming from a corporate freeze-out.

  • 🌎UTSIDE THE OFFICE

    Michael is a film buff and avid outdoorsman who enjoys hiking, camping, fishing, and treasure hunting (as both a participant and a creator). He once built, wired, and plumbed a house from the ground up — with no prior building experience. He is a lifelong fan and steadfast supporter of the Baltimore Orioles.

In 2025, Michael merged his legal and entrepreneurial proclivities and expertise by opening Sturgeon Law PLC, with an eye towards making premium quality legal services — across a wide variety of practice areas — available to everyone, not just the top 1%.

Of all the wild endeavors and adventures he has pursued over the course of his life, he is most excited about this one, as it allows him to fully bring to bear his "jack-of-all-trades" skill set for the benefit of current and future clients alike.

Michael is particularly excited to bring asset protection to the masses with the Caviar Trust, which was designed specifically for regular, everyday people who want to protect their hard-earned savings, build financial discipline, and/or pass on their wealth responsibly.
